Costa Rica News – The Ministry of Culture announced that it invested ¢808 million in the FIA 2018. This is the first formal data we have about the financing of the International Festival of the Arts, which was held from April 6 to 15.
The festival was organized in the previous administration but by the same person who continues in its management, Ada Acuña. Last year, the estimated investment more than doubled in reality. That’s why the lack of data presented for this year attracted attention.
Aside from funding from the Ministry of Culture, contributions and scholarships came from many places, such as the Costa Rican Tourism Institute, the National Insurance Institute, the Costa Rican Electricity Institute and the Municipality of San Jose.
The investment went to technical aspects, artistic aspects and human resources. These included projectors, video, lighting, sound, microphones, platforms, generators, artists, production teams, customer service, attention to artists, security, and environmental management processes.
