Workers will be able to drive to and from work, avoiding the vehicle restriction, as long as they have an official letter to show Traffic Police from the employer and it meets the criteria put forth by authorities.
Others who disregard the traffic restrictions will be subject to license plate removal and a fine of ₡107,000. Roadside controls have been tightened.
From April 13 to 30, the sanitary restriction will be from 5 am to 7 pm. Those who can not drive on Mondays are those with plates ending in 1 and 2, Tuesday 3 and 4, Wednesday 5 and 6, Thursday 7 and 8, and Friday 9 and 0. On Saturdays, those ending in even numbers will not be able to circulate and on Sundays those with odd numbers will not be able to circulate.
Those expected to work on the day of their restriction are exempt from the measures with a note specifically formatted with important details like name, ID number, schedule, home and company addresses, and license plate number.
