Dental Tourism News – From the time that titanium dental implant was invented in 1950s up until today, it is still considered as the most effective and functional dental procedure used to replace missing teeth. This is because no other dental procedure has ever surpassed or produced the same effect as dental implant, artificial root that is made of surgical-grade titanium alloy embedded in the upper or lower jaw to support restorations, has.
Because of the complexity of the procedure, its effectiveness, length of time you need to sit on a dental chair and the materials used for the implant, you can expect that it is more expensive than other dental procedures. Another factor that greatly contributes to the cost of dental implant is the number of dental clinics in a patient’s area offering the same treatment. If you are living in an area where dental facilities are scarce, you will surely be quoted an exorbitant amount that is almost impossible for you to fit in your budget.
Now you may think that because dental implant is expensive you will just forego undergoing this procedure and opt for treatments that have comparatively lower up-front costs. But come to think of it; other procedures like dentures and bridges may seem more economic because of their low up-front costs but if we take into consideration the number of times we have to replace them over the years and pay for another treatment to address health issues associated with future bone loss, we would realize that dental implant is still more cost effective because we would only have to pay a one-time fee that will solve all our dental issues.
If upon consideration you decided to get dental implants, make sure to do the following to get the most affordable treatment you can:
- Check the clinics in your area including the ones from a larger city that way you can get affordable quotes that you can compare. Remember, tough competition gives way to affordable services. You may also consider looking for a dentist who is new to the profession who wishes to establish his/her practice.
- Be careful and look out for false advertisements. It would be unwise to believe misleading advertising that says one dental implant will cost you just $999. This amount may only cover the price for the implant but the dentist’s fee, dental x-rays, price of abutment, anesthetics, bone grafting, caps and crowns are not included.
- Discuss with your dentist possible payment options for your treatment to be more affordable. Although this may not really lower the cost, it would definitely make it easier for you to fit the cost of the treatment into your budget.
- Consider dental tourism. Dental implant in Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama, Poland and Hungary are 60 to 70 per cent less expensive than treatment in the US, UK and Canada. The price of dental implant in the US which includes all other fees except for bone grafting is around $3,600 to $4,300, while in the UK it ranges from $3,000 to $3,500. In Costa Rica and other dental tourism spots, a dental implant costs about $1,200 to $1,400. Even after factoring in travel costs and lodgings, the savings will still be substantial.
