Costa Rica Travel – Since moving back to the San Jose area of Costa Rica, I have been on a mission to find interesting things to do that encompass Costa Rica and allow one to experience the flora and fauna of the land of “Pura Vida”.
Located next to the Simón Bolívar Zoological Park, the Spirogyra Butterfly Garden houses over 30 species of butterflies, including the vivid blue morpho butterfly which is a must see while in Costa Rica.
The Spirogyra Butterfly Garden is a small piece of paradise within walking distance from the busy streets of San Jose Costa Rica.
Spirogyra boasts being located in the last forested part of the city known as a “green oasis”, one of the few places in San Jose where people can learn about butterflies up close and personal. (Check Out My Pics Below)
This small butterfly garden is a great spot to take the kids for a day if you are in the San Jose area. Visit in the morning to see plenty of fluttering butterflies.
The garden is 150m east and 150m south of Centro Comercial El Pueblo, which can be reached on foot (about a 20- to 30-minute walk from downtown), by taxi or by bus.
