Costa Rica News – Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has bolstered operations in Costa Rica with the launch of a new delivery center in San Jose’s industrial township, America Free Zone
The expansion will add 120 more employees to the payroll, taking HPE’s total headcount to 1,085 in the Central American country, according to a statement released by CINDE, the country’s investment promotions agency.
Built with an investment of US$11 million, the new office will hire IT engineers and provide research and development support for the company’s global operations. It will also provide supply chain management services from Costa Rica.
“Costa Rica’s human talent has become a key element for HPE’s strategy. From here, we work in developing new products and services, allowing the company to advance one foot ahead in the sector,”said Antonio Collantes, Site Leader of Hewlett Packard Enterprise Costa Rica.
Elsewhere in Latin America, HPE has operations in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Mexico, but Costa Rica and Colombia are the only countries in the region where it runs a global services center.
HP was the second largest private employer in Costa Rica until 2013 when it significantly scaled down operations in the country by moving a few backend operations to the Indian city of Bangalore.
