Costa Rica News – Well we are approaching Costa Rica Independence Day weekend here in CR and there are events celebrating this all across the country as the torch gets to Cartago Friday night. If you are looking to enjoy some classical music on Saturday or Sunday then look no further.
The Symphony Orchestra Hall on Saturday and Sunday offers two concerts that will include works by Venezuelan composers Alfredo Rugeles and Diana Arismendi.
The concerts will be held at the Sala Magna del Liceo in Heredia, on Saturday, at 5 pm and at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre on Sunday, at 11 am
From composer Arismendi, a work that previously only played in Venezuela, will now be heard in Costa Rica.
One of the peculiarities of these concerts is that the teacher Rugeles shall lead the orchestra.
Eddie Mora, the orchestra’s artistic director, explained that it is a great opportunity to have the guest Rugeles. He added that he is a complete artist, a musician who studied composition with Alberto Ginastera, a director and also a promoter of the new Latin American music.
This concert also will perform a symphonic version of the popular assembly March Heredia .
Admission to the concert is free on Saturday, while the Eugene O’Neill Theatre has a value of ¢ 5,000 (general) and ¢ 2,000 (citizens and students with ID gold).
