How costly is it to have a wedding in Costa Rica? Well, if you have family who would be flying between states to attend your wedding, their plane tickets shouldn’t cost too much more. There is a small ($28) fee to cross the border. For the wedding itself, it’s like anywhere else. The price could be $2,500 or $45,000 depending on your guest list and needs.
What’s the weather like in Costa Rica? Most Costa Rican destination weddings take place in Guanacaste where the big hotels are on the beach. This area experiences the most sun from December-April and the most rain in July-October.
What kind of hotels are found in Costa Rica? There are 4 and 5 star hotels along the pacific coast. Many offer wedding planning services from their own on-site wedding planners. There are also unique hotels that you may enjoy for your honeymoon such as private cabins surrounded by the tropical jungle. Your guests may want to travel while they are here. What are the legal requirements to getting married in Costa Rica? Both the bride and groom will need a certificate of their marital status certified by the Costa Rican consulate in their country. This must be sent in advance. They will also need valid passports and proof of their home address.
Who can marry us? As long as a wedding lawyer is present and you sign the paperwork in front of him anyone can marry you. It can be the lawyer, a pastor, priest, rabbi, or even a family friend! You will also need two non-family witness. The certificate will be filed and translated to English before being mailed to you for you to file it in your country. It’s much more simple than you would imagine!
