Costa Rica News –Each and every day, the Costa Rican Social Security Fund is the target of 1,000 cyber attacks.
Most of these are blocked by security systems and the majority of them are considered low risk, but still that’s quite a large number.
This is not a situation faced only by the Caja; it affects most computerized records across industries. The motive may be as simple as to get information to resell such as names with addresses and phone numbers.
Of course, the intention aside, hacking this system has huge implications. Workers’ salaries are revealed and the medical problems of anyone in the general public can become common knowledge.
On September 2, 1,104 hacks were detected and 42% of them were classified as medium or high risk, cause for alarm. They came from highly specialized sources, those familiar with the matter explain.
There will be a meeting on October 7th to establish a joint cooperation to better understand and prevent this from happening again.
