Costa Rica Arts & Theater – “Graveyard of Escazu” is a significant painting by Dinorah Bolandi. She used oil paints and a canvas that’s 51cm by 67 cm. She has left a mark on Costa Rican art as a draftsman, painter, photographer, graphic designer, and teacher.
The image of the Escazu Cemetery is focused on an aerial landscape. The cemetery is accentuated in gray and white among the colorful, warm trees, crops, and mountains. There is a rectangular theme throughout the work.
The geometric and chromatic structure plays a decisive part in the composition of Bolandi’s creation. She showed perfection in color succession and space resolution. The feeling she gives through the painting is one of harmony.
Bolandi redesigned the bucolic approach of the 1930s. Her painting was acute, personal, and balanced.
This work is on display at the Central Bank Museum in Costa Rica from today until April 6th.
The admission is $3 for nationals, $11 for visitors, and discounted rates are available for children, students, and seniors.
