The friends of a 19-year-old girl held her semiconscious at sea until the National Coastguard Service arrived to rescue her. She had fallen off a cliff at Playa Flamingo, Santa Cruz, while taking a selfie.
This accident happened at 4:30 pm on Saturday, according to reports from the Ministry of Public Security. The fall was from about four meters.
Her friends recounted that she was taking a photograph and did not notice she was on the edge of the cliff and slipped off. The companions immediately tried to help her and also called the 9-1-1 emergency system.
The sea was rough and the girl in poor shape. She had blows to the head, chest, and arms. She was supported by three friends, between the rocks and the sea, when a National Coastguard Service boat arrived.
The arrival of the boat was fast and two sailors jumped into the water to help get the girl out. She and her friends were taken by boat to the Flamingo Coast Guard station where she was treated by the Red Cross and then transferred to a medical center.
