Costa Rica News – Does your car use premium gas? If so, your day will be made next week when the price gets a ¢109 reduction or about $0.20 per liter.
Wondering what this is in gallons? This is about a $0.76 drop in price per gallon. A Huge change.
The great news that the price per liter is about to go down came to us Friday from the Regulatory Authority for Public Services.
¢109 is more generous than originally estimated, which was ¢88. With the new rates, drivers will pay ¢580 instead of the current ¢689 for super and ¢552 instead of ¢655 for plus. Diesel will be ¢552 instead of ¢607.
The rebate is due to various factors including international oil prices and the exchange rate in addition to Recope spending less than estimated on the purchase of fuel and refining operations.
The reduction will help auto owners and may also have a positive effect on the cost of electricity and taxi rates.
Another fuel reduction is expected to come by February. The estimated reduction is ¢49 for super, ¢54 for plus and ¢55 for diesel.
