Information submitted by the Costa Rican Petroleum Refinery (Recope) to the Regulatory Authority for Public Services (Aresep) at the very last minute will force a delay in the new fuel prices that were expected in mid-November.
Invoices for liquified petroleum gas were submitted at 3:12pm on the day the public consultation expired. This means recalculations must be done and the adjustment scheduled for November 15th will be delayed.
Initial indications were that, for the first time, super would cost less than regular gasoline. This was attributed to a decision by the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries to cut oil production by two million barrels a day.
The invoices that were not originally included impact the entire calculation process for this month. An entirely new calculation must be conducted and reviewed to determine how much these purchases will impact the price.
