Costa Rica Entertainment –What’s better than a water park, right? How about a water park full of thermal waters heated naturally by a volcano? I’m sold! This really exists. It’s called Kalambu and is located near the Arenal volcano in Costa Rica.
It’s one of the newest attractions in the La Fortuna region, and one you don’t want to miss. It’s complete with a wet bar in the pool, a restaurant, various water slides and an area for younger kids to play.
For the bravest visitors, there’s “El Mamut,” a giant slide that’s 114 meters long at 12.6 meters high. 2-4 people can fit in each tube to go down together.
In a tower not far from that attraction is the 3-in-1 slide. The three slides twist and turn on different routes and end up in a huge pool. One of the slides is totally closed, making it darker and cooler.
For smaller children, there’s a world of fun in an interactive water games area. They can spend hours having the time of their lives exploring all of the areas and levels. There are water guns, slides, pools and a waterfall.
After all the adrenaline filled rides, relax in a pool of hot water that comes from under the earth. Enjoy the massage of waterfalls on your shoulders. This healing water eliminates tension, cleans the skin and helps metabolism.
When you’re ready, get a bite to eat at the restaurant “Besa Mi Burro.” Enjoy a local plate or a pizza.
The park is open Tuesday to Thursday 10 am to 6pm, Friday 10 am to 8 pm, and weekends 10 am to 9:30 pm. There are special prices available for nighttime visits, groups and birthday parties.
