Costa Rica News – Young people in Limón had an incredible opportunity to live 516 years in a single day on Sunday. The activity was meant to let them explore the history of their town, where Christopher Columbus landed on his fourth and final voyage in 1502.
The group of 50 youth were led through a tour of the most emblematic sites of the Caribbean port. It went from sunrise to sunset and was presented as a game called “516 years in a day.”
They learned the history of cocoa at George Grant’s Chocolate Adventure Company. They saw the downtown House of Culture and the Black Star Line.
They walked the Big Boy baseball stadium and entered the Limón cathedral, public library and new building of the Municipality of Limón. A ship took them to Uvita Island.
They heard historical talks at eight points of interest and took pictures along the way. At the end of the game the teams had to answer questions about what they learned. The group named Caribeños won the contest.
