Costa Rica News – Drones are being used to obtain information from the forests in Costa Rica. Without them, the data would be difficult to gather. From the drones, scientists capture data related to carbon.
The project, named Deep Forest, is backed by Intel. It aims to quantify the large-scale capture of carbon, the biomass and the health of the forests. It combines drones with Intel data processing technologies along with scientific knowledge.
The drone used will be equipped with a high definition laser scanner and multi-spectral camera to make three-dimensional models of the forest surface and canopy cover as well as collect information such as the number of trees and their heights.
One thing we can do to help lower the carbon in the environment is use green vehicles. Electric bikes are offered by Fumero Green Motors for just ¢675,000. They go 40-60 kilometers per hour and can go as far as 100 kilometers on a single 8-10 hour charge.
