Costa Rica News & Events – Costa Rica has long been a popular spot for international tourists, but they lack movement of locals within the country. For this reason, they will host the first National Tourism Fair of Costa Rica in San Jose, on the 23rd and 24th of this month. The purpose is to encourage local, domestic tourism.
The deputy manager of the ICT (Costa Rican Tourism Institute), Ireth Rodriguez, explained, “The national tourism industry has come together to strengthen the promotion of domestic tourism, with the ultimate goal of their country as a tourist destination.”
This is a key time for the event, as Costa Rican families are beginning to plan their vacations. They don’t have to look abroad, with over 45 domestic companies participating in this fair. These participants include tour operators, theme park agents, car rental companies, hosting companies, and even rural tourism operators.
Consolidating so many options and destinations into one showcase will increase both the competitiveness and quality of the services offered.
Through the event, we will see a spotlight on the positive individuals behind Costa Rican tourism. Barista presentations, specialty cocktails, folk groups, workshops for kids, and cultural activities for seniors will all be part of the activity.
Tourism is one of the main industries in Costa Rica. It employs 150,000 people directly and 400,000 indirectly.
