Costa Rica Christmas Events – San Jose is a great place to people watch any day and you often see people just sitting around observing the chaos and beauty around them.
Yesterday was perhaps the best day of the year to do so, the National Tope.
Every December 26th the Christmas decorations are nearly blocked out by the crowds of people taking over the sidewalks for picnics and barbeques with friends and family alongside the parade of horses.
The parade also features kids dressed up and riding ponies, traditional cowboy attire and cowgirls in knee high boots or heels and very short shorts, plaid shirts and cowboy hats.
They are more like models for the spectators and not actually cowgirls.
Consuming alcohol is normally prohibited on public roads but an exception is made every December 26th for the Tope.
One rider was arrested for being inebriated, assaulting an officer and resisting arrest.
