Travelers were stuck in line at both the Juan Santamaría and Daniel Oduber international airports as there was a failure in two immigration systems used by the Migration and Immigration Office.
This happened on Monday afternoon from 11 am and was fixed around 1 pm. It led to eight flights being delayed. Aeris Holding is the company in charge of the terminal. It explained that the failure was in the International Police system and the one used to consult exit permits for minors.
The consultations are done online and usually take only one to two minutes. Problems sometimes arise during the peak hours and work is being done to reduce the impact of these failures.
On October 14th, there was a similar issue in which an Internet connectivity issue affected the flow of travelers at all borders and airports in the country. On January 3rd, the digital system to register passengers caused long lines and delays.
