Costa Rica News – Ballena Azul is a game that originated in Russia and has reached Latin America.
The platform consists of 50 challenges that an administrator gives to the players.
The challenges are dangerous.
They include self-harm, depriving oneself of sleep and even making attempts at suicide. Many follow through on the challenges because once they enter the game they are threatened that their family will be hurt if they don’t.
Kids should be warned of the dangers of this game but parents do no good by coming across as bossy or controlling by saying “do not play this game.”
It’s better to open a dialogue and find out if your child or his friends are playing. Also teach your child social skills to relate to people in person better and not go seeking an online group for belonging.
If you find out your child is cutting or is manifesting suicidal ideas allow him to talk to you openly without judgement. Create an environment that is warm and free. Of course, seek psychological help right away, as well.
