Costa Rice Entertainment News – Costa Rica’s free-to-air TV will now have its own locally-produced Dancing With the Stars, BBC Worldwide announced today.
The BBC subsidiary has signed an agreement with Teletica, one of the biggest broadcasters in Costa Rica, to license its celebrity dance competition format, which has already been sold to 42 countries.
According to BBC, Teletica will produce and air a localized version of the series this year, featuring actor David Martinez in the jury. Martinez had previously served as presenter and judge on Dancing with the Stars Panama, which premiered in 2012.
“It’s exciting to bring our most successful format to a new audience with Teletica, and I’m looking forward to seeing the fusion between classic ballroom and Latin passion”, commented BBC Worldwide’s President of Global Markets Paul Dempsey.
The Dancing With the Stars format in Latin America has delivered major hit shows in countries like Brazil, Chile and Argentina.
