Costa Rica Entertainment News – I remember growing up and attending the Nutcracker each and every year during the Christmas holiday season. Our family would dress in our holiday best and head to the theater to watch the ballet dancers bring the story of the Nutcracker to life.
Dancers from New York and Prague are headed our way for the holiday season and the annual presentation of The Nutcracker, which will be on December 5th at the National Theater.
The lead of the play is Steven Melendez, a principle dancer from the New York Theatre Ballet. He has also performed as a soloist with the Estonian National Ballet and in Argentina.
The National Ballet of Prague, one of Europe’s best companies, has also sent some of their best dancers, Michal Stipa and Viktor Kovalinka. Michal Stipa is a soloist with the group and has presented in over 6 countries.
They will share the stage with some 35 Costa Rican dancers who will take on the secondary roles in the presentation. It will not be the same The Nutcracker as last year, as this time choreographed snowflakes and Spanish dances will be featured.
So head to Teatro Nacional as some of the top ballet dancers in the world perform the dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy and the Mouse King and make Clara’s dream on Christmas Eve a reality.
