Costa Rica News – A cruise with 3,500 tourists had to cancel its stop in Puntarenas, Costa Rica, due to the strike going on in the country.
The company, Celebrity Cruises, preferred to avoid the risk of passengers getting stuck in road blocks, which would affect the itinerary.
The Infinity ship had planned to dock there today at 6 am but the operators canceled the stop to avoid delays caused by the strike of public unions protesting the tax reform currently being considered.
It had planned to be in the country just 10 hours and various companies were ready to take passengers on tours that will now be lost because there would be no guarantee passengers could make it back to the ship before departure.
At least 300 Costa Ricans were affected directly with lost sales in tours, meals, transportation, and souvenirs.
Some of the affected plan to go in the minibuses that were ready for tourists to confront the unionists blocking roads.
