Costa Rica News – The Costa Rican Times has decided to once a week introduce one of the top quality restaurants in and around Costa Rica. There is only so many casados and gallo pinto that you can stomach. I also have a bottle of Tabasco in my bag to add flavor to the Costa Rican national cuisine.
Carpe Diem Restaurant Costa Rica
When it comes to dining out in Costa Rica many restaurants offer the same few dishes with little variety. The search for many locals and tourists are gourmet specialty restaurants and cuisine from other cultures. In the search for elegance and a menu that will satiate your palate take the trip to Care Diem.
Carpe Diem Restaurant & Lounge offers a V.I.P. service and incredible Italian cooking. In the beginning of 2012 the Cerutti Restaurant in San Rafeal in Escazu was shut down and remodeled into the new Carpe Diem.
The restaurant has a warm feeling to it with a color scheme of black against off-white with artwork in rich oranges, reds, and yellows. Elegant table lamps, vases of flowers, and modern chandeliers are excellent finishing touches to the atmosphere.
Carpe Diem is a stylish bar with weekly events, a V.I.P. area, half price appetizers at happy hour, and of course Italian food and wines. Chef Nicola Papengelo uses only the best ingredients. He even imports some from his homeland, Puglia, Italy.
The result of his work and passion has been called “art on a plate.” Some examples of what you might enjoy are tomato soup with clams, white parmigiana eggplant, duck ravioli, seabass with leeks and cherry tomatoes, beef tenderloin in portabello sauce, apple cake, and ricotta cheese ice cream with strawberries.
The restaurant makes for a great spot to enjoy wine and an array of appetizers with friends, have a romantic date, or meet a business client. The lounge can be rented out for your special event.
For reservations call 2228-4511. The address is 75m Sur del Scotiabank, San Rafael de Escazu.
