Costa Rica News – This ought to work well since Recope is doing such a great job with gasoline right now….. (Sarcasm)
The Ministry of Environment and Energy (Minae) is pushing to give more power to Recope, in order to allow it to work with multiple kinds of renewal hydrogen, biofuels, biodiesel, etc.
Recope is the Costa Rican Petroleum Refinery. It currently is under legislation stating that it can only work with hydrocarbons.
A law numbered 6,588, issued in 1981, prohibits the importation of other substances.
A modified version of the law will be presented to Congress with the intention of moving towards clean energy.
A roundtable on transportation and fuel is creating the new National Energy Plan. The draft should be ready in a week and implemented by December.
Recope’s fuel quality is excellent but the emission of greenhouse gases is deteriorating the air to a critical level in terms of public health so some changes must be made.
The roundtable is discussing clean transport, energy efficiency and alternative fuels and energy.
