The so-called “pastor of the rich” is in preventive custody and will face trial for alleged crimes of sexual abuse, rape, and aggravated corruption. It is the Public Ministry that accuses the spiritual leader following complaints brought forth by members of the Generation 3:16 church.
There was a preliminary hearing, this Wednesday, in the Criminal Court of San Joaquín de Flores, Heredia. There, the Gender Unit of the Deputy Prosecutor’s Office of Heredia presented evidence and the Court determined that the case should be submitted to trial.
The Court announced that an extension of precautionary measures was requested and that the suspect, age 59, will remain in preventive detention until February 22, 2021. The Heredia Criminal Court will schedule a date for the trial to begin.
The Minister of the Status of Women said that “This trial represents, in short, an important step towards access to justice for women who face this very serious form of sexual and spiritual violence.”
