Costa Rica News – Who says Costa Rica is not like the Wild West. Attack someone and then offer them cash to drop the charges.
Keylor Jacob Cole Kelly, who is known as Gato Cole, has offered a settlement to get out of going to trial.
Cole and accomplice César Mauricio Valverde Córdoba are accused of attempted homicide.
Cole offered ¢72 million to the attack victim who was attacked on December 14th, 2013 in Los Cangrejos, downtown Limón. Judges granted time for negotiation on the possible deal.
The victim’s lawyer announced that the offer was accepted but the court did not approve it because the victim himself didn’t appear in court to confirm dropping the accusation.
The crime is very serious and no one should be able to pay someone off to stay out of jail after firing at the victim from a car with the intention to kill until running out of ammunition.
The trial continues on Thursday with witnesses.
The defendants remain in custody on other charges.
