Costa Rica News – The first lady, Claudia Dobles, announced that she studied the Panama subway. She also collected input from the experiences of other Latin American countries, such as Colombia, for the planning of the Rapid Passenger Train (TRP) in Costa Rica.
She took note in the meetings of good practices and lessons learned in those countries that will serve as a reference for the new construction project.
She looked into the bidding processes they used, timelines, delays, cost estimates and what they included, and more.
She reported that the feasibility stage of the TRP project is expected to be awarded within three months. In this phase, information from pre-feasibility must be reconfirmed and the business structured.
Likely, a concession model will be used, but Dobles noted that a public-private alliance of other schemes have not been ruled out. The goal of the Carlos Alvarado government is to have the first stage of the TRP awarded and in progress by the end of his term.
