Remember when, in 2015, a pigeon was bringing drugs to a jail? It was discovered in a prison courtyard with marijuana and cocaine attached to it. The bird now lives in Zoo Ave. The crazy stories continue.
Two cats were trained to introduce drugs into prisons in Alajuela and San Carlos.
The cats were captured by police when the authorities noticed they had pouches around their necks. The feline in San Carlos was carrying 158.9 grams of marijuana and the one near La Reforma had 286 grams of marijuana. One was found to also have a charger and hands free on his back.
The Deputy Director of the Penitentiary Police, Nils Ching, explained that these are new challenges that “call us to continue strengthening ourselves as a police force.” He supports a culture of prevention of violence and promotion of peace, which the institution works for.
