Costa Rica News – The owner of Destinos TV is suing a Canadian for $2 million for swindling him.
The Tico had to sell $400,000 worth of cattle on Thursday to recover his company after the issue regarding planes promised.
The Canadian, Scott Smith, promised planes to the manager of Destinos TV, José Cortés. The tico will have to travel from July 6 to 9th with his lawyer to Miami to bring the suit against Smith.
Smith owns Worldwide Charter Group. He rejects accusations of fraud launched against him. In fact, he says that Destinos TV sold packages for the world cup offering charter flights without having actually contracted the service with any carrier.
Cortés, however, has the contract for the planes from Worldwide Charter Group. The last he heard about the planes was that they had license plates that were false so he was able to stop the last payment and make other arrangements to get the ticos home from Russia.
The issue left ticos stranded at the World Cup, having paid for flights not able to be provided. We saw a similar situation happen at Mundomex.
