Guanacaste will put two marathons on the national calendar this year. They’ll take place in Pinilla and Flamingo. The events will have distances of 42, 31, 21, and 10.5 kilometers.
The JW Marriott Marathon will be in Pinilla, Santa Cruz, on July 27. Grupo Publicitario decided to create this event due to the conditions of the area. It’s a one hundred percent controlled environment with closed streets, Rodolfo Villalobos, director of Grupo Publicitario, explained.
This will be the fifth marathon in the country and second in Guanacaste this year. The Flamingo marathon was previously in Tamarindo. It will take place on September 14. This route is being certified before the International Association of Athletics Federations.
The Cartago Marathon will be on April 14, the San José Marathon on May 19th and the International Marathon of San José Costa Rica on December 1st. The Road Runner Marathon was cancelled.
