Costa Rica News – Many Costa Ricans came together on Saturday at the National Gallery of the Museum of Children for a great purpose.
They were involved in the event “A Blanket for Syria,” which weaves woolen blankets to send to the distraught country.
Alejandra Gutierrez organized the beautiful initiative in Costa Rica as part of “The Blanket of Life” movement. In collaboration with the Association to Support the Syrian People, 1,450 blankets have been sent to the displaced so far.
The Syrian conflict began in 2010 and has resulted in 250,000 civilian deaths and 9 million people displaced. It is one of the causes for the European migration crisis. Peace is a very distant notion in Syria.
The blankets will be distributed to IDP (internally displaced persons) camps in Idlib, Syria, where the temperature in January will be just above freezing.
To help, you can bring blankets by October 30th to Novillo Alegre Restaurant in Escazu or donate financially to BAC San Jose 10200009139800745.
