Costa Rica News – Many Ticos got more than they bargained for when they decided to go to Mexico to see the soccer game between Mexico and Costa Rica.
It started when a group of people bought a travel package for $1,000.
They bought it with Continental Travel and it was supposed to include round trip airfare and attending the event.
The travel agency was non-compliant with its part, as it paid for only 3 of the 5 charter flights promised.
So many people were stuck in Juan Santamaria. Those who did get to Mexico were then told they didn’t have return trips.
As if this weren’t bad enough, many Ticos had their passports lost or stolen.
The consulate is accepting $32 in exchange of a safe-conduct back to the country.
So far six of the people without passports have returned. It is not determined how many are still stuck in Mexico.
