A Costa Rican, Marco Gamboa, shares his story of working for Trump for a few months in 2005. He found employment at the president’s golf course in Bedminster, New Jersey.
He was annoyed at the president’s “illogical” speech about migrants because it seemed to him that only Latinos worked there at Trump’s golf course with him. They worked with fake work permits purchased for $100.
Gamboa was part of a large tico community in New Jersey. He is one of at least 16 who worked for Trump under irregular conditions.
As a result of this coming out in the news, Trump started dismissing employees without legal papers. There has even been a proposal from New York lawmakers to extend a special protection to undocumented Trump employees.
Gamboa is happy to be back in Costa Rica with his five children. He likes the more laid back pace of life found in the country.
