Costa Rica News – A Tica, Paz Monge, is going to be part of the curatorial team of the prestigious Venice Biennale, which will be inaugurated next May.
The Costa Rican curator will get to see behind the scenes.
She’s had a busy year, graduating in July, with a Master’s from Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London, and then opening two exhibitions just a month later. She first curated the Bancarte Prize and then an exhibit “Small objects: A baggage sample.”
Her next step is joining the curatorial committee of the Venice Biennale. She will be the assistant of one of the two curators. The team works with confirmed artists and coordinates the architectural planning of the exhibition as well as other details.
She explained that taking part in assembling a biennial is the greatest adventure for a curator. The theme of this 58th edition will be “You Live in Interesting Times” and will highlight art with a social function.
