Costa Rica News – Sometimes being good looking does not help you beat the rap. This is what a Costa Rican model is learning the hard way.
A Tica model, Kathia Adriana Corella Rojas, age 25, was convicted in Managua, Nicaragua, along with four other members of Cacique, for drug trafficking.
She was the leader of the group.
The ruling was on Wednesday afternoon and was by the Judge Octavio Rothschuh. The prosecution requested six years in prison for Corella for the receipt and custody of the money used by the group.
It was also requested that she serve 13 years for money laundering and seven for organized crime.
December 3rd of last year, the police captured the group and seized 285 kilos of cocaine hidden in fuel tanks of two trailers as well as $871,000 in a separate vehicle. The trailer had Guatemalan plates.
The driver of the truck and the pickup with the money were also accused.
They pled guilty to international transport of narcotics as well as organized crime and money laundering.
Corella’s boyfriend, who is the father of her five year old daughter, escaped but committed suicide while being pursued by police.
