Costa Rica News – A 65-year-old man spent two days in a tree harassed by crocodiles. He recounts that around 7 pm on Wednesday, October 4th, he was in a house that he looks after, at Finca 7 of Palmar Sur, Osa.
He had to look for somewhere to get safe once the water was above his waist. He looked around me and didn’t see any options until going outside and seeing a tree that was about 5 meters high he could climb.
He also got his two dogs to climb up. He saw water on all sides and because of the current the tree was rocking everywhere. Below there were two crocodiles that kept approaching the tree.
He was in the tree 41 hours without eating or drinking. He felt faint so eventually had to come down, although afraid of the crocodiles. He got through the water that was up to his neck and made his way four kilometers through the palms to Finca 5.
Some neighbors gave him water and cookies before a patrol transported him to a shelter in Palmar Norte, where he remains. What happened to his dogs was not specified. Many shelters are closing, with the idea to keep only four open for those who lost everything.
