A lawyer is suspected of putting false statements in a public deed to help a relative of hers immigrate to Costa Rica. The minor is a foreigner whose parents live in another country.
In total, three people were arrested by the Migration Police, following three raids today, in San Jose, Santa Barbara, and the La Carpio citadel. They are the lawyer, a notary, and an accountant. The notary was not legally able to exercise his functions, since he was apprehended for other acts months back.
The group requested a migratory category to regularize the minor. Police Investigations and Analysis and Intelligence Management, under the direction of the Fraud Prosecutor’s Office, found the irregularities in the immigration process.
The crime the three are suspected of is “ideological falsehood.” They face a prison sentence of one to six years. The truth did not coincide with data provided in the certification from the public accountant. Immigration has zero tolerance for corruption.
