Devy González inspired so many girls when she won “Best Figure” at the Miss Intercontinental as well as placing in the top 20 finalists, out of 70 beautiful contestants from around the world.
Her goal was to convey a message to women that with effort everything is possible, regardless of our physical traits. She showed african descendents and people with curly hair that there is no need to change our appearance to be seen as beautiful. The winners this year of Miss Universe and Miss World are also black women.
Devy won second place at Miss World Costa Rica. She was invited to Miss Intercontinental just six days before it began. She left the event full of pride and satisfaction, having met her goal of helping others feel identified.
In her day-to-day life, Devy works at a bank and studies health services administration. She took a 25-day-leave from her job to participate in the contest in Egypt and is glad she got to meet so many aspiring women and learn about their cultures.
