A Costa Rican actor, Álvaro Marenco, is to debut in the esteemed Mexican cinema, in the film “Coraje,” a drama produced by Rubén Rojo. Marenco plays the part of Artemio.
The film portrays the story of a 75-year-old actress and her children. She is about to star in a play but little by little loses her sight. She also faces difficulties with her alcoholic son. The character Artemio is a theater actor supportive of Alma. He is a narco chief in the play.
The film is based on Rojas’ mother and brother who will be interpreted by themselves. His brother left alcohol after years of living with the disease of alcoholism.
Marenco met Rojas in Costa Rica at the presentation of a documentary. Rojas then extended an invitation to participate in the film. It was filmed in December. Marenco calls his participation a dream come true. He’s been a longtime fan of Mexican cinema. It was his first time traveling to Mexico to take part in it.
