Costa Rica Sports News – Australia’s soccer team, the Socceroos, are about to see a new era. They’re going to host Costa Rica in Sydney on Tuesday for a friendly international match. Ange Postecoglou will be in charge of Australia at the Allianz Stadium.
He built his reputation by winning consecutive A-league championships.
The Socceroos qualified for the World Cup in June, but had 6-0 losses to Brazil and France, exposing their weaknesses. Coach Osieck lost his job after the defeat by France.
Their veteran goalkeeper retired. Besides that, Postecoglou’s squad is not much different than Osieck’s was. He will probably just make small changes in the right direction, at this point.
Australia lost four out of their last five matches. Costa Rica has only been defeated once in their last five. Carlos Hernandez and Kenny Cunningham, A-League players, will play for Costa Rica, though they will be missing some regulars, like Bryan Ruiz and Cristian Bolanos.
We wonder how Postecoglou will use his team’s veteran attacker, Tim Cahill. He was the only striker under Osieck. Another question is whether he will keep Lucas Neill as captain and as a starter.
