Costa Rica News – The OIJ has captured two suspects of stealing cars from Uber drivers while they were traveling in a Rav 4 intending to pick up a Yaris stolen on Friday night.
They were arrested Saturday morning.
The arrest stated that they are suspected of both assaulting Uber drivers and stealing their vehicles. The arrest was carried out in Santa Rosa de Santo Domingo de Heredia by agents of the Vehicle Theft Section of the Judicial Investigation Agency of San José.
According to the police report, at 11:30 p.m. Friday, the two individuals requested Uber service. One got in in Goicoechea and asked to pick up the other in Santo Domingo de Heredia. They then directed him to an isolated area.
They are investigated for the theft of at least twelve vehicles. They carried out the robberies between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m.
It all started in the same month that Uber started accepting cash payments.
They threatened drivers with a firearm and kicked them out of the cars leaving them there.
