6,115 U.S. tourists arrived in Costa Rica, this October. Another 24,606 came in November. While an impressive jump, the figure is still below 20% of what it was before the pandemic. For example, in November 2019, there were 91,785 tourists from the U.S.

The National Chamber of Tourism estimates that we will have between 275,000 and 345,000 foreign tourists over the five months of high season, December 2020 through April 2021. This is about 20% to 25% or pre-pandemic periods.
The tourists must complete epidemiological forms and have travel insurance. They are urged to wear masks, practice social distancing, and stay in social bubbles.
