Costa Rica News – This year, hotel occupation rates nationwide are showing signs of recovery.
In fact, they are the highest they’ve been in the past four years. The Costa Rican Chamber of Hotels showed a 55.8% average occupancy in 2014 (up to October), which is an increase of 3.39% over 2013.
The increase in success in the sector can be attributed to multiple factors. Costa Rica may be becoming more well known in foreign countries, for example.
The crisis in the middle east is another factor because people are afraid to cross the Atlantic and prefer to travel in the Americas.
The areas enjoying the most recovery are the coastal zones and the city, with 58.38% and 57.37% respectively.
The mountainous towns are at a 49.77%. This lower figure may be due to the fact that these types of towns are ordinarily most popular with European travellers, many of whom chose to go to the World Cup in Brazil this year.
Costa Rica offers a stable democracy and a wealth of tourism options.
The projection for tourism in 2015 is looking good.
