Costa Rica News – Thunderbird Resorts is about to open up a new venue in Costa Rica. It will be Costa Rica’s newest casino and will be under the well known Fiesta Casino brand name.
The casino will operate under a long-term lease.
The plan is to have 118 slot machines, 28 table positions, and 70 food and beverage positions. This Vegas-style casino will be the first in its area. A Panamanian bank is responsible for funding the project, including equipment and construction.
The casino will attract middle and upper class clientele with its entertainment focus, in addition to the traditional games. The company has been operating other casinos in the country since ‘03, including the casino in the Holiday Inn Express Hotel at the San Jose International Airport.
The opening of this venue falls under their strategy used in Chinandega in Nicaragua, using only nominal management and parent-level expense. They have reduced and closed slot parlor facilities in Costa Rica to provide better financial return.
Getting rid of 290 under-performing positions reduces the gaming tax per gaming position and leads to better customer service.
