On Sunday, February 19th, six trans people plan to hold a peaceful protest on the outskirts of the amusement park “Parque de Diversiones” to request that their identities and experiences as trans and non-binary people be respected.
This follows psychological aggression that they suffered at the park last Sunday, when they were denied entry and one person was even detained. They believe it was due to their identities. On various occasions one woman was referred to as “he” after repeatedly asking to be referred to as “she.”
Authorities of the park insist that the reason they were denied entry had nothing to do with their identities, rather that they were using drugs on the outskirts of the park before coming to the entrance. Anyone, of any identity, would be denied entry if they were under the influence of drugs. They were offered the option of changing their tickets for another day.
The group expressed that they were sharing CBD and lavender, which are products now available in stores and legal and that the reality is that they were refused entry because of “transphobic and diversophobic” discrimination.
