Costa Rica News – Sustainable tourism is the newest “in” way to travel. You hear terms like “eco-friendly,” “green,” and “responsible travel.”
Costa Rica is home to almost 5% of the world’s biodiversity and is all about these new buzzwords and ideas to protect its natural attraction.
About 30% of the country is protected as national parks, wildlife refuges and private reserves. Additionally, there are multiple policies and programs to protect the environment.
The Costa Rican Tourism Board created a Sustainability Certification Program that recommends the most responsible hotels.
Rural tourism is on the rise. You may like to visit an indigenous village, chocolate plantation or learn to ride horseback like a cowboy.
To do your part to help the sustainable tourism cause, please collect your trash and recyclables to dispose of them properly, don’t remove shells from the beach, and maybe participate in a volunteer project while you’re here.
