Costa Rica News – Costa Rica saw an increase of 7% in its income from foreign tourism this high season, the first three months of the year, compared to the same time last year. $1,181 million were received, pointing to a continuing upward trend.
The arrival of Air France is one of the reasons for this. It is the first direct flight from France to Costa Rica. Many new airlines have arrived and others have expanded routes allowing more foreign tourists to reach the country.
The first quarter is always the best for tourism. The revenues during this quarter have been rising over the last nine years. Tourists bring a lot of financial benefits to the country as they spend on hotels, restaurants, transportation, tours, recreational and cultural activities, as well as business.
Experts expect the trend to continue positively. Some factors that may change this would be changes in the economy of North America or Europe or natural disasters.
Another sector seeing positive change is telecommunications, information and information services, up 18.3%.
