The United States will require, as of January 26, a negative covid-19 test for travelers arriving to the country by plane. The test is to be carried out three days before the flight, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
While testing doesn’t eliminate all risks, it, along with a quarantine period, wearing a mask, and social distancing, makes travel safer. The CDC recommends travelers stay in quarantine for at least a week and take another covid test 3-5 days after travel.
There are new strains of the coronavirus. One in Britain is much more contagious than the original one. Variants were also found in South Africa and Brazil. Four infected passengers from Brazil arrived in Japan, where they are now working to isolate and analyze the variant.
The U.S. registered 4,500 deaths from covid-19 on Tuesday alone. It currently has 22.8 million cases and over 380,000 deaths due to the virus.
