Costa Rica is the third best country to retire in, according to the International Living firm which updates its list annually. It considers aspects such as nature, cost of living, and access to healthcare and culture.
The Annual Global Retirement Index for 2020 lists Portugal and Panama as the best and second best retirement spots. After Costa Rica in third, comes Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Malaysia, Spain, France and Vietnam.
Costa Rica offers quite an appeal. It’s tropical, offers many microclimates, has a low cost of living, and affordable medical care of high quality. It’s also known for its natural beauty and ease of obtaining real estate.
A couple can live quite well on $2,000 a month in this peace-loving country with a stable democracy that’s been called “the Switzerland of Central America.” Additionally, Costa Rica offers many activities for retirees to enjoy.
