Costa Rica News – Costa Rica has invested around $4 million in the purchase of flu shots.
In April, the Costa Rican Social Security Fund expects 1.2 million influenza vaccines to be delivered to the country.
The vaccines are to be used in the national campaign against influenza. They are purchased from the Revolving Fund of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).
The CCSS requested that PAHO increase the doses available for both adults and children.
The increase request was for 730,000 to a million for older adults and 160,000 to 200,000 for kids.
The latest campaign is aimed at the at-risk groups such as the elderly, children and pregnant women.
Last year the staff even went house to house to give out all of the vaccines given for planned coverage.
